A recent independent review by international air quality expert Dr Bruce Graham confirmed that Pacific Steel's emission control systems are consistent with international best practice. The steel mill's emission rates are well below the consent limits and international performance guidelines.
The Sutton Park (nearest residential area) air monitoring shows no significant off-site effects and all metal concentrations are well below the NZ Air Quality Guideline levels at both monitoring sites.
